IT IS WELL 2 Kings 4:26 THE REPORT IS WELL ...and she answered, It is well.

The word “well” means favorable, profitable, in a good state of condition or being. The message centers around a Shunamite woman who stated these words, It is well. When we are first introduced to her, she was starting well. She was stated to be a great woman- noble, influence, position, wealth, status. She was a woman of spiritual discernment & sensitivity. She hungered for the pres of God. She wss a visionary, a worker in the kingdom, a giver, a blesser.

In the midst of Divine Favor, she was living well. She had an upper room where the Anointing resided. She was granted a promise that was beyond her possibility to produce- a son; barren no more, the favor of God. She went through a season of life where things were not so well. Her son, the promise, became sick. , and died. When things abruptly die, it connects other things to it & affects them. The hope, the promise, the spark, the dreams, vision is gone.

This woman then said something that in mere human understanding wasn’t true- “It is well.” Shalom- safe, happy, health, prosperity, peace, well. It is a term that means how is your peace, how are you doing; it is well with you and your family. It means to be complete. 1 Kings 9:25 Shalem- So finished he the house; to make complete, perfect. It also means to make or be a maker of peace, wellness, blessings Proverbs 16:7 Shalam- When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace w him. It means peace, peaceful, preservation, deliverance, sound. The word Shalom is used 237x, and this doesn’t count the connecting words- and the expression is carried over into the New Testament. Evidently, God has a lot to say to us about our peace, wellness, and victory.

SHE SAID IT IS WELL WHEN: SHE COULDN’T SEE IT. SHE SAID IT IS WELL WHEN SHE DIDN’T HAVE IT. SHE SAID IT IS WELL WHEN EVERYTHING WITHIN HER SHOUTED THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE. SHE SAID IT IS WELL EVEN THOUGH HER HUSBAND APPARENTLY NEVER ASSUMED HIS PRIESTLY RESPONSIBILITIES OVER THE HOUSEHOLD, AND LEFT HER ALONE TO ATTEND A SICK CHILD. SHE SAID IT IS WELL EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A COLD CORPSE LAYING IN A BEDROOM THAT HAD REPRESENTED THE PROMISE OF GOD IN HER LIFE. SHE SAID IT IS WELL EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS ANGRY AT LIFE, ANGRY AT HER SITUATION, HER HUSBAND, THE PROPHET, AND PERHAPS EVEN GOD

SOMETIMES YOU’VE JUST GOT TO LOOK PAST WHAT YOU CAN SEE, AND YOU’VE GOT TO REACH FOR SOME “WELL” Somebody say, Wwelllll! SOMETIMES YOU JUST GOTTA REACH BEYOND THE PRESENT FOR SOME SHALOM. Philippians 4:7 Some peace that passes understanding; And the peace of God, shall keep (preserve and guard) your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. Isaiah 26:3 Thou will keep him in perfect peace- Shalom- Well- whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusted in thee.

David said, I will say of the Lord… Psalms 92:2 He is my refuge, my fortress, my God; in him will I trust

In closing, I want to tell you about an old hymn we used to sing- It is well. It goes like this:
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul. It is well, with my soul, It is well, with my soul, It is well, it is well, with my soul. They still sing that old hymn in a lot of churches. Let me tell you about it. It was written by Horatio Spafford in 1873. It is the story of a man that learned how to say It is well in the face of extreme pain. Here’s the story: Horatio Spafford was a successful businessman, who was in the prime of his life, with a beautiful wife, one sone, and three daughters. In 1871, Horatio’s only son died unexpectedly and suddenly. Shortly thereafter, his business suffered major loss due to the Great Chicago Fire. In 1873, he is trying to rebuild his business and his life. He plans a family vacation, and at the last minute has to stay behind to take care of last minute business details. The family is traveling to Europe. Horatio decides to stay behind and send his family on, joining them in a few days. While crossing the Atlantic, the ship Horatio’s wife and daughters are on collides with another ship, and all four of his daughters die. His wife sends him a telegraph saying, “Saved alone”. Horatio immediately sets sail, and joins his wife. Upon returning back home, and approaching the very area where the tragic ship accident occurs, this word comes inside of him, and he takes out his paper and pen and records what is the hymn, It is well.

I believe its time to sing, It is Well Sing To your calamity; To your purpose & destiny in God. Sing to your children, your mate, your finances. Sing to your health, to increase in the Holy Spirit
