Angel Food is a non profit, non denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States. The program began with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia in 1994, and has grown to serve tens of thousands of families across the United States.

Angel Food’s groceries are sold by the box at $30.00 per unit. Each month’s menu consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60.00. One box of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week, or a single senior citizen for almost a month The food is still the same high quality one would purchase at a grocery store— not damaged or outdated goods.

There is no limit to the number of boxes an individual can purchase, and there are no applications or qualifications. Angel Food participates in the U..S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system.

New Harvest Church is a participating church and host site of Angel Food. We believe there is a vital need for this type outreach in Rutherford County. With high unemployment and low wages, the need for assistance is great. Senior citizens, families, those with high medical costs, and various groups of people will appreciate quality food at low prices.

However, the angel food ministry is not limited to those with low income. It is available to anyone who wishes to find relief for the high cost of groceries.

Our commitment to be an asset to the community has led us to join efforts with Angel Food Ministries. As a host site, we are responsible for all the legwork necessary in ordering the foods, pick up, and set up. We provide all the labor and paperwork necessary to be able to offer the food to those in our area who desire it. Our staff and volunteers provide the labor and New Harvest Church covers all the expenses involved with advertising, gas, vehicles, paperwork, and the facilities to host. Although the food is supplied to us at the price of $25 per unit, the cost of getting it to you is somewhat more than that. We gladly provide the resources as an extension of our outreach.

Meals are ordered during the month, and must be prepaid, usually by the first Monday of the month. The food is distributed the second Friday between 3-6 PM. We accept cash, money orders, and ebt cards. A convenient order form and envelope is placed in the foyer of the church, where the glass doors are located. In case there is no one in the office to assist you, you can put the order with payment in the drop box located in the office door EBT payments will need to be in person.
